September Devotional
Theme: Courage to Stand
Day 1 of 30
Day 1 — The Reality of the Roar
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
The apostle Peter fundamentally rejects the idea that the Christian life is a peaceful stroll through a manicured garden. He utilizes a terrifying, predatory image: a starving apex predator actively stalking prey. Crucially, a lion's roar in the wild is not simply a display of anger; it is an acoustic weapon. The sheer decibel level of the roar is designed to intentionally induce paralysis in the prey, freezing them in terror before the strike.
The enemy operates identically. Before he attacks your family, your finances, or your calling, he releases a deafening roar of intimidation. He wants to paralyze you with a terrifying forecast of what 'might' happen. Courage is not the absence of hearing the roar; courage is the refusal to let the acoustic assault dictate your paralysis. We stand because the Lion of the Tribe of Judah has already defeated the predator.
"Intimidation is the enemy's cheapest weapon and our most expensive surrender."
What specific 'roar' is currently trying to paralyze you with fear? Name it, and deliberately step forward anyway.
Do not let the sound of a threat dictate the posture of your faith.
