Scripture Refuge

Statement of Faith

Our Theological Foundation

Scripture Refuge is a faith-based web application built on the conviction that the Bible is the living Word of God, and that every person who comes to it seeking peace, hope, and truth deserves to encounter it without distraction, cost, or barrier.

This Statement of Faith reflects the theological foundation that shapes every feature of this app — from the verses surfaced by the emotion engine, to the devotionals, reading plans, and topics curated within it.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God — the supreme and final source of truth for faith and life. It is through Scripture that God speaks, and it is Scripture we are committed to placing before every person who visits this refuge.

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — each fully God and personally distinct. He is the creator of all things, sovereign over all, and intimately near to those who seek Him.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He was born of a virgin, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to the Father. He is the only way to salvation and the hope of all who come to Him.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer, convicting the world of sin, guiding us into truth, and empowering us to live lives that reflect the character of Christ. He is our comforter and our counselor.

Humanity and Sin

We believe every person is made in the image of God and is deeply loved by Him. We also believe that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, and that apart from Christ, we are separated from God. This is why we need a Savior.

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It cannot be earned or deserved — it is a free gift received through repentance and trust in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross.

The Church

We believe all who trust in Christ are united as one body — the Church. While Scripture Refuge is not a church, it exists to support, supplement, and point people back to the local church, the community of believers, and the Word of God that nourishes it.

Eternity

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead and the final judgment of all people — believers to eternal life in the presence of God, and unbelievers to eternal separation from Him. Our hope is in Christ, who conquered death and promised the same to all who believe.

Scripture Refuge does not represent any single denomination. This statement reflects the core of historic, orthodox Christianity as found in the Scriptures. We welcome all who come seeking God's Word, regardless of background or tradition.
